FAIRVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT - POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE:Custodian – 3rd Shift Full-Time (Floating)
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities and Grounds
JOB GOAL: Individual in this position will, with minimum supervision, be responsible for performing duties assigned by the Head Custodian and/or the Director of Facilities and Grounds to ensure that the Fairview School District school buildings and associated grounds are maintained in a pristine condition to support educational, extra-curricular, and community programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The ability to lift heavy objects and carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis, as well as to push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
- The ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking and be able to reach, stoop, bend, kneel and crouch as necessary to perform job duties.
- The ability to work in a physically challenging atmosphere and be able to work from ladders and elevated work platforms.
- The individual must possess some related job experience in cleaning and floor care techniques with proven aptitude in building maintenance and minor mechanical repair work.
- The individual must possess a working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and materials used in the care and maintenance of school buildings.
- The individual must have the ability to operate equipment necessary to perform cleaning and floor care activities.
- The individual must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out activities assigned by the Head Custodian and/or the Director of Facilities and
- Develops and implements routines and checklists which will ensure the cleaning and maintenance of the facilities and equipment is kept in optimum condition and at minimum cost.
- Makes repairs in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry as prescribed by job assignments.
- Follows a detailed daily and weekly schedule of tasks including cleaning, servicing, and maintaining all areas within a school building as well as providing maintenance and upkeep of adjacent grounds, mechanical systems, security systems, and electrical equipment as well as any other task normally completed by custodial personnel.
- Participates in snow/ice removal including use of plow trucks, snow blowers, bobcat, high lift, salt spreader, and other snow removal equipment.
- Reports housekeeping and maintenance problems to the Head Custodian.
- Performs duties such as operating all types of cleaning equipment, wet and dry mops floors, cleansrestroom floors, toilets, washbasins, fills dispensers, washes windows and walls, and paints, etc.
- Carries out routine or special instructions or duties in support of special or ECA
- Interfaces with maintenance, building staff personnel, and students to assist in the orderly operation of the district and buildings.
- Maintains building security, all or in part, with consideration to scheduled uses.
- Presents a positive attitude and professional image of himself/herself and the district.
- Participates in programs to conserve energy, better utilize resources, and is familiar with proper use, handling, and storage of chemicals and supplies.
- Position may be assigned to work in any school district building with or without prior notificaiton. This is a floating position.
EVALUATION: Annually in accordance with the provision of the Board’s policy on evaluation and the F.E.S.P.A. Contract.
SALARY: Class A – 40 hours per week/up to 10 hours per day
Current hours needed are: 11:30 pm – 8:00 am
$18.59 per hour for 25-26
