Job Overview

Fairview Range is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Operating Room in Hibbing, MN.

 

With over 55 physicians, Fairview Range Medical Center has the largest surgical staff on the Iron Range with a variety of surgical services offered in areas such as ENT, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and General Surgery. We are a Level IV trauma center, and perform emergency, inpatient, and outpatient surgeries and procedures.

 

The OR RN provides perioperative nursing care and oversees the delivery of care to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures when functioning as charge nurse and performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Schedule: This position is an on-call position with hours as needed. The shift length will be 8 hours on the day shift with opportunity for weekday and weekend call as needed. To maintain employment, this position must work at least 64 hours in designated 4-month periods, if called.

About this unit:

• 4 operating rooms
• 17 Same Day Surgery cubicles
• 6 recovery room cubicles
• Average of more than 3000 surgical procedures per year
• Multidisciplinary care team including Physicians, APPs, CRNAs, RNs, Surgical Techs, Instrument Tech/Unit Assistants
• Patient population: pediatric to geriatric
• Other duties as assigned which could include the role as a charge nurse.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for: 

• Providing direct patient care with regard to the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual well-being of the patient using the nursing process.
• Participating in performing a total assessment according to established policies (including physical, psychosocially and spiritual data) upon admission, as well as ongoing assessments.
• Demonstrating awareness of age-specific criteria in obtaining assessment data.
• Identifying patient needs and/or nursing diagnosis based on analysis of collected data and incorporates into an individualized plan of care.

Required:

• Current RN license in the state of Minnesota
• Associate’s degree in nursing
• OR RN experience
• In lieu of OR RN experience, can consider successful completion of the AORN Peri-op 101 course and/or clinical experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist or completion of OR internship
• Current BLS certification or attains within 3 months of hire
• Current ACLS certification or attains within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

• 2 years of OR RN experience
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• CNOR certification
