FAIRVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT - POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Permanent Position: 2026-2027 (Grade level and subject are not fixed, they may change)

(May change buildings after year 1)

 

LOCATION: Fairview Middle School or Elementary 

 

TITLE: Professional Teacher - (Will begin in grade 5 but may be reassigned based on enrollment)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  2. Pennsylvania Certification – Elementary Education Certification K-6, PK-4, or any 4-8 certification
  3. Knowledge and confidence of iPad implementation in a shared environment
  4. Possess working knowledge of all aspects of the Framework for Teaching
  5. Working knowledge of the Science of Reading
  6. Working knowledge of best practices in reading and math assessments and instruction.    

REPORTS TO:  Fairview Middle School Building Principal (or whichever building they are assigned)

 

Salary: Per F.E.A Contract

 

EVALUATION: Annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation and     F.E.A. contract 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Employ Differentiated Instructional techniques in all subjects to address the ability levels of all students.
  2. Implement effective iPad instruction in a one-to-one environment.
  3. Demonstrate various teaching methods and techniques that motivate students to perform optimally.
  4. Be knowledgeable of subject matter and current instructional strategies and approaches for subject/grade area.
  5. Demonstrate use of appropriate technologies as related to specific subject/grade areas.     
  6. Provide thorough and punctual reports, data, forms, etc., as requested by the administration.  
  7. Adhere to all policies and procedures delineated in the district’s Board manual, staff handbook, and administrative requests.
  8. Employ appropriate use of classroom management techniques.
  9. Utilize a proactive social curriculum to assist students in growing socially, as well as how to interact positively with others.
  10. Administer effective and developmentally appropriate assessments that promote high levels of academic engagement. 
  11. Effectively use data to drive instruction.
  12. Utilize strategies and activities that encourage the development of critical and analytical thought processes of students.
  13. Teach subject matter as outlined by the Board-approved curriculum.
  14. Cooperate with staff and administration to promote and maintain a sound learning environment.
  15. Be a professional role model for students and staff.
  16. Participate in professional organizations and professional growth activities, such as appropriate seminars, courses, and workshops.
  17. Work to actively incorporate special education students within the regular education classroom to the greatest extent possible.
  18. Communicate with parents consistently (at least weekly) through multiple modes to increase the home-school connection.
  19. Create and manage a meaningful, positive behavior system which promotes success for all children.
  20. Monitor times outside of classroom duties (i.e. lunch duty, hallway duty, and recess duty).
  21. Effectively utilize technologies to create meaningful and motivational lessons.
  22. Work to promote a positive and collegial atmosphere with fellow teachers and staff
  23. Be able to work with other staff members (special education, literacy aides, and Title 1 teacher) to support children with unique needs.
