Senior Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Job Summary

Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, and biopsy ultrasound procedures under supervision and medical direction. Responsibilities include positioning patients, selecting transducer settings, reviewing orders, collaborating with physicians, and maintaining detailed records of exams. Ensures patient safety by verifying identity, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining confidentiality. Prepares sterile fields, assists radiologists during procedures, and operates ultrasound equipment effectively. Post-processes images, prepares final reports, and transmits images to PACS. Maintains equipment, supplies, and a clean environment, while providing compassionate patient care and education. Participates in emergency response, rotates facilities, mentors staff, and supports ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of post-graduate sonography experience or completion of an approved training program.
• Completion of recognized ultrasound training or equivalent experience.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in general, breast, vascular, and obstetric imaging.
• Certifications in Abdomen, Breast, Vascular, and Obstetrics by ARDMS.
• Associate degree is preferred.
