- Greeting and checking in patients, verifying insurance, and providing necessary information.
- Assisting patients with ambulatory difficulties and screening visitors.
- Interviewing new patients, recording registration information, and entering data into computer systems.
- Managing communication via phone, including answering inquiries, taking messages, and responding to emergency calls.
- Scheduling, coordinating, and rescheduling appointments, relaying updates, and maintaining provider schedules.
- Handling payments, balancing cash, and issuing receipts.
- Answering questions about appointments, testing, accounts, and charges or referring to appropriate staff.
- Instructing patients on visit preparations and insurance requirements, obtaining referrals or waivers.
- Preparing and mailing patient information and follow-up calls, ensuring call forwarding and maintaining a tidy work environment.
- Distributing forms, participating in quality improvement activities, and performing miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent; Medical Office Professional training preferred.
- At least one year of experience in a medical or clinical setting preferred.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of office procedures, medical terminology, and office equipment.
- Ability to accurately record data, follow instructions, and manage schedules.
