- Prepare sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Assist during surgeries by maintaining the sterile field, providing instruments, and responding to the surgical team’s needs.
- Perform surgical counts, organize supplies, and ensure aseptic techniques.
- Retrieve and label specimens, report implanted devices, and assist with patient care tasks like skin prep and catheter insertion.
- Support room cleaning, participate in safety protocols, and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in ongoing education, training, and orientation of staff and students.
- Be available for on-call duties and adapt to staffing needs with flexibility.
- Certification as CST, NBSTA, or TS-C, and Associates Degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, infection control, and patient rights.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and professionalism skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and adapt to high-pressure environments.
- Exposure to noise, bright lights, body fluids, and potential hazards; adherence to infection control protocols required.
- Must demonstrate flexibility, personal grooming, and a commitment to safety and patient care.
- Prolonged periods of work, occasional travel, and periods of high stress may occur.
