What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Perianesthesia Care position at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview is currently hiring an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to help drive nursing practice in our Perinatal Care areas with a focus on the Perianesthesia across the Fairview system.
The Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) demonstrates experienced knowledge and skill in a specialty patient population, nursing practice specialty, service line, and across the continuum of care for the system. The APRN supervises work, processes, and people to design, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative, evidence-based interventions and standard processes to optimize patient safety, healthcare quality, cost-effectiveness, and improved patient and staff experience. The APRN generates and evaluates evidence for practice through partnership with nurses and other members of the inter-professional team and demonstrates professional leadership in work at the patient, micro-, meso-, and macrosystem levels.
Clinical Practice & Patient Care
Evaluates care using evidence and professional standards.
Designs, implements, and assesses practice improvements.
Uses data and research to guide care decisions and optimize outcomes.
Collaborates on nursing guidelines, policies, and performance standards.
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and supports professional governance.
Provides advanced clinical judgment and prescribes appropriate interventions.
Consultation
Offers expert consultation for complex cases and care delivery.
Advises on education materials, scope of practice, and regulatory topics.
Facilitates communication and fosters adaptive learning environments.
System Leadership
Leads quality improvement initiatives and evaluates clinical metrics.
Develops system-wide policies and supports regulatory compliance.
Conducts system-level assessments to improve nursing outcomes.
Collaboration
Builds interdisciplinary teams and supports shared governance.
Enhances workflows and care delivery through cross-unit partnerships.
Drives system improvements across micro-, meso-, and macro-levels.
Coaching
Mentors and precepts nurses to promote professional growth.
Supports ongoing education and the Professional Practice Model.
Research
Leads or supports EBP and research initiatives to improve care standards.
Ethical Practice
Applies ethical principles in decision-making and conflict resolution.
Required
Education
- Master’s degree in Nursing
Experience
- 3 or more years of nursing experience
License/Certification/Registration
- Current MN RN License
- Licensed in Minnesota as an Advanced Practice RN (CNS, NP, CRNA, CNM)
- BLS certification
Preferred
Education
- Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Science
Experience
- 6 or more years Nursing experience
- 1 year or more APRN experience
