M Health Fairview is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Day shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and has a block schedule.
Health Unit Coordinators are part of a dynamic care team including Providers, RN's, Nursing Assistants and Department Leaders, creating an atmosphere of hospitality and efficiency. Using EPIC, the Health Unit Coordinator plays a critical role in the coordination of information ensuring an optimal patient visitor experience.

Responsibilities Job Description
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
- Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the HealthEast Nursing Vision
- Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care
- Performs vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing and documents cares provided
- Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team
- Prioritizes and transcribes written doctor's orders under the supervision of the RN
- Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures
- Patient Care Delivery: Observes and collects pertinent data and/or clinical findings to enhance patient outcomes
- Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families
- Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves
Required Qualifications
- 1 year office experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year office experience preferably in a health care setting
- Electronic Health Record knowledge required/experience
- Health Unit Coordinator experience
- Medical terminology knowledge/experience
