Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners.
Duties
- Work collaboratively with a team, including co-teaching with the Lead Teacher.
- Work closely with the Executive Board to ensure smooth organization and functioning of the preschool.
- Manage a classroom of up to 20 students at a time with assistance of the Lead Teacher and Classroom Aide.
- Assist with planning and implementing daily lessons based on the developmental needs of the students within an educational curriculum that aligns with licensing requirements and also encompasses the Cooperative Preschool philosophy of ‘Learning Through Play’.
- Organize and maintain a functional and clean classroom.
- Ensure all equipment is kept clean, sanitized, and safely stored.
- Follow and maintain State of Michigan licensing requirements and MiRegistry requirements.
- Ensure safety protocols for students drop-off and pick-up routines, as well as emergency procedures.
- Participate in field trips, fundraising events, graduation, and membership meetings.
- Establish positive relationships and encourage the involvement of parents.
- Communicate with families via written and oral communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Board
- Lead the classroom and implement the daily schedule when the lead teacher is absent
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary or in response to emergencies, workload, or staffing shortages.
Desired qualifications:
- At least 19 years old
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must meet childcare licensing qualifications
- Experience working in childcare programs or classrooms.
- Fingerprints and background check required.
- Passionate about providing excellent daily care, initiating ideas and activities, and collaborating with a team.
- Comfortable supporting and engaging parents and families.
- Skilled in communication, both written and verbal
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.75 - $16.00 per hour
