TITLE: Assistant to the Athletic Director

Qualifications

• NYS Permanent Certification as a teacher in Health and/or Physical Education.
• At least 5 years of successful teaching experience.
• Demonstrated skills in working with people and facilitating decisions.
• Cogent interpersonal communication and strong problem solving skills.
• Knowledge and experience in varied areas of sports management.
  
  

Performance Responsibilities

• Assist in the formation of policies concerning athletic teams.
• Assist in preparation of game schedules.
• Assist in preparation of practice schedules for fitness center, gyms and turf field
• Monitor the Academic Eligibility policy.
• Assist with various Sports Booster Clubs' activities.
• Assist in supervision and mentoring of new coaches.
• Assist in coordination, construction and decision making associated with Athletic Department equipment, supply and cloth bids.
• Participate in pre-season coaches' meetings.
• Participate in organization/coordination of tournaments, sectionals, banquets, etc.
• Assist in recruitment and hiring of coaches.
• Responsible for safety inspections and documentation of facilities and equipment.
• Communicate with coaches, with special emphasis on modified levels and off-campus programs (i.e., hockey, skiing).
• Work with Head Supervisor to schedule game management assignments
• Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Director of Physical Education, Health & Athletics.
  
  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The position of Assistant to the Athletic Director is a 185 day 0.6 FTE teaching position with the additional 0.4 FTE responsibilities set forth above.

COMPENSATION: The Assistant to the Athletic Director shall receive an annual stipend of $4,000 in addition to his/her teaching salary. The stipend will not be added to base pay.

FILLING OF POSITION: The Assistant to the Athletic Director position shall be posted in accordance with the terms of the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Fairport Educators Association. The position shall be posted on a one-year basis.

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics with input from the building principal(s).

REPORTS TO: Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics.
