NATURE OF WORK
Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail‑oriented, patient focused Clinic Nurse to support daily operations within our Ortho Clinic. This role is essential in ensuring smooth communication, timely coordination of care, and a positive patient experience. The Clinic Nurse manages incoming calls from patients, pharmacies, and external providers; assists with orders and medical care needs; and collaborates closely with practitioners, nurses, management, and ancillary departments to deliver exceptional service. This position also coordinates precertifications, referrals, outside records, and appointment scheduling to support efficient clinic workflow. On occasion, the Clinic Nurse completes vital signs intake, gathers history and physical details, and assists providers with in‑office procedures. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced outpatient environment. To support continuity of care across FMH’s outpatient services, the Clinic Nurse may also float between the Ortho Clinic, Urgent Care, and Horizon Clinics when needed, ensuring consistent coverage and high quality patient support across all locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle incoming calls from patients, pharmacies, and external providers regarding orders, medical care, and follow‑up needs.
- Work collaboratively with practitioners, nurses, management, and ancillary departments to support seamless patient care.
- Complete precertifications, referrals, and insurance requirements accurately and in a timely manner.
- Obtain outside medical records, process incoming referrals, and ensure documentation is complete and organized.
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with hospital departments and external entities as needed.
- Occasionally perform vitals intake, gather history and physical information, and prepare visits for providers.
- Assist providers with in‑office procedures as needed
COMPENSATION: $24.00 – $36.00 per hour
SCHEDULE: 24 hours; 7a-7p or 8a-5p (depending on department)

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois, Current BLS Certification.
EXPERIENCE
- Preferred: 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience; Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
