NATURE OF WORK
Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Environmental Services Aide to join our Environmental Services team. EVS Aides play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position supports FMH’s mission by ensuring all assigned areas meet hospital cleanliness standards and infection‑prevention requirements. The Environmental Services Aide cleans patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, bathrooms, offices, and other assigned areas in accordance with departmental procedures and hospital objectives. This role uses cleaning tools and equipment such as mops, wringers, dusters, vacuums, and approved chemicals to perform tasks including dusting, waste removal, sanitizing surfaces, polishing fixtures, and maintaining floors. The technician assists with emergency spill cleanup, reports needed repairs, and ensures equipment is clean and functioning properly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and sanitize assigned areas including patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common spaces.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, waste removal, damp‑wiping surfaces, and polishing fixtures.
- Dry‑mop, wet‑mop, and sanitize floors in accordance with infection‑control standards.
- Operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, mops, and other EVS tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with emergency spill cleanup as observed or requested.
- Maintain and clean assigned equipment and report repair needs promptly.
- Report facility repair needs related to furniture, fixtures, or building conditions.
- Follow safety and infection‑control procedures at all times.
- Demonstrate professionalism in interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Support departmental workflow and perform additional duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION: $15.00-$22.50 per hour
SCHEDULE: Day Shift; 5 days per week (0.8 FTE)

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Prior housekeeping, janitorial, or healthcare environmental services experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform repetitive tasks
- Strong customer service skills when interacting with patients and staff
