POSITION SUMMARY
The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms and bathrooms in accordance with hotel’s brand and quality standards for cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety, and security. This role plays a direct part in delivering the guest experience that defines each property.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work Objectives
- Stock and organize the supply cart, using cleaning supplies and amenities in accordance with established standards.
- Clean guest rooms, including but not limited to stripping and making beds, gathering and emptying trash, cleaning mirrors, dusting furniture and fixtures, and vacuuming.
- Clean guest bathrooms, including but not limited to bath fixtures, commodes, floors, walls, and mirrors.
- Replenish guest rooms and bathrooms with amenities, supplies, linens, and terry in accordance with brand standards.
- Inspect rooms for repairs or malfunctioning fixtures; perform minor repairs such as replacing remote control batteries or light bulbs, and report additional repair needs to the Supervisor or maintenance department per hotel procedures.
- Inspect completed rooms and bathrooms to confirm quality standards have been met.
- Report room status to the front desk after cleaning, following hotel procedures.
- Meet productivity and quality standards for cleaning rooms and bathrooms.
- Store the cart and supplies and empty trash appropriately after completing assigned rooms.
Guest Satisfaction
- Announce presence and enter guest rooms in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Smile, acknowledge, and greet guests encountered in rooms, hallways, and other public areas.
- Respond promptly to guest requests for additional supplies, such as extra towels or an iron and ironing board.
Teamwork
- Maintain availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Assist other employees with various assignments, such as operating the hotel courtesy vehicle, and supporting complimentary breakfast, laundry, and housekeeping operations.
Safety and Security
- Perform all duties in accordance with company Safety and Security policies and procedures.
- Comply with OSHA, HAZCOM, and Bloodborne Pathogens regulations, as well as other applicable state and local regulations.
- Report lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience
- Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
- General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and related safety practices preferred.
Minimum Skill Requirements
- Ability to understand and communicate in English preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written directions.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged periods of standing, carrying, and walking.
- Firm and simple grasping required for all aspects of this position.
