Fairfax Cryobank is seeking an experienced and collaborative Genetic Counselor to join our team in a part-time capacity. This is a remote position. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of reproductive genetics, donor screening, and clinical decision-making, with meaningful impact on clients, clinics, and donors.
Key Responsibilities:
Suitability Matches
- Review and obtain donor and client carrier screening results
- Perform detailed suitability assessments using established genetic and clinical criteria
- Partner with genetic counselors, laboratory teams, and medical directors on complex cases
Medical Update Reviews
- Assist in evaluating and managing medical updates reported by clinics, clients, and donors
- Gather medical records, clarify case details, and review prior genetic testing
- Conduct targeted literature reviews to support case interpretation
- Collaborate with the Genetic Team and Medical Director on case assessment and next steps
- Help coordinate additional testing and bring cases to resolution
Manage and Communicate Genetic Test Results
- Review incoming test results and develop concise summaries and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date genetic documentation for donor profiles
- Communicate donor genetic test results to clinics and clients
Serve as a Key Point of Contact
- Respond to a range of inquiries from patients, providers, and internal stakeholders
- Navigate sensitive or complex questions with professionalism and clinical judgment
- Escalate higher-risk or nuanced cases as appropriate
- Coordinate follow-up and collaborate across teams to ensure timely resolution
Position Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling
- 10 years of clinical experience, including at least 5 years in reproductive genetics
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex genetic information clearly
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience working cross-functionally with clinical, laboratory, and medical teams

About the Role:
- This is a part-time contractor position:
- 10 hours per week in 2026, with the potential to increase hours in 2027

- Compensation: $60.00 per hour
