A respected non-profit organization in Northeast Florida is seeking a mission driven Chief Operating Officer. This is a key executive role that ensures strategy, culture, and day to day operations work together to advance the organization’s mission and community impact.
The COO reports to the President and works closely with the Executive Team. This leader drives operational excellence, oversees core internal functions, and helps maintain a healthy, values based workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- • Lead internal operations and ensure alignment with the organization's strategic plan
- • Translate long term strategy into annual work plans, measurable goals, and performance systems
- • Oversee enterprise risk management, compliance, legal coordination, HR, IT, and cross departmental operations
- • Support leaders in finance, communications, technology, and other assigned areas
- • Foster a workplace culture grounded in trust, equity, accountability, and professional growth
- • Lead human resources including recruitment, performance management, and development
- • Partner with the President on operational priorities, organizational health, and risk matters
- • Serve as staff lead for governance practices, Board policy implementation, and internal communication
- • Act on behalf of the President when needed
Qualifications
- • Minimum 10 years of senior management experience, ideally in philanthropy or nonprofit leadership
- • Strong background in operations, HR and talent development, compliance, and risk management
- • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams and build effective organizational systems
- • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust at all levels
- • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree or JD strongly preferred
- • Valid Florida driver’s license, local travel required
- • Strong judgment, organizational skills, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning
