- Bachelor's degree in Education, Alaska Native Studies, or a related field. A combination of relevant college coursework, training, and professional experience may substitute for a degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience, encompassing areas such as supervision, grant writing and management, budget development and oversight, public speaking, and providing professional development.
- Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, including the ability to incorporate culturally responsive practices and honor Indigenous knowledge systems in educational settings.
- Experience working effectively with Indigenous communities, with a commitment to building respectful, collaborative relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Strong public relations skills, including the use of social media and online platforms for communication and outreach.
- Ability to use technology for communication, data tracking, and reporting.
- Training and/or experience in cross-cultural education.
- Valid State of Alaska driver's license, along with current insurance and vehicle registration.

Job Summary: The Director of Indigenous Education is responsible for overseeing the Title VI Indian Education Grant, supervising staff, and managing the Alaska Room to support cultural enrichment and family engagement. The Director also empowers educators by supporting school-based staff, providing targeted professional development, and overseeing the Parent Advisory Committee.
Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 7: $80,517.42 - $113,085.86 DOE
Work Day: 8 hours per day
Work Year: 12 months
