GRANT SUMMARY
The goal of the New Beginnings Recovery Home Project is to provide comprehensive, coordinated, and evidence-based treatment and services for American Indian / Alaska Native (AI/AN) individuals, including those with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health conditions, who are experiencing homelessness resulting in reduce substance abuse and improve housing stability. New Beginnings will pay particular attention to meeting the disparate needs of the LGBTQIA population.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides case management services for clients in the assigned program.
JOB DUTIES
- Provide advocacy and referral services and liaise with local community agencies.
- Interviews and screens clients for services.
- Creates and maintains client files according to established policies and procedures.
- Provide information to the public regarding the program.
- Compiles and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
- Attends training and specialty training as it applies to this position.
- Works as part of a team providing quality care following departmental policies and procedures.
- The incumbent of this position must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines. The incumbent shall demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
- Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures.
- Ability to report to work on time.
- Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.
- Understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, including cross-cultural communication styles.
- Skill in operating personal computers utilizing a variety of computer software.
- Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Skills in oral and written communication.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and consumers.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of work experience in the social service field.
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, with demonstrated experience working effectively with the Alaska Native population.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- Associate’s degree in behavioral health, human or social services, counseling, or a related field.
