Job Description
Superintendents at Fairbank Construction Company are trusted and empowered with a great deal of responsibility. They are asked to achieve results, using an approach consistent with the outstanding client service and high-quality standards of Fairbank Construction. They take charge of the day-to- day decisions, operations and safety at the jobsite and work closely with our Project Managers, Owners, Architects/Designers and subcontractors. They are expected to lead their construction teams to maximize their talents to achieve the highest level of quality construction.
Responsibilities
- Organizes, schedules, coordinates, and supervises onsite work by subcontractors and self-perform workforce.
- Responsible for job site safety of everyone on the job site
- Mentors and implements safety policies and procedures
- Manages jobsite logistics including security, deliveries, trash removal, cleanliness, hoisting, flagging, etc
- Builds, maintains, and updates project master schedule
- Helps develop overall project delivery strategy as it relates to logistics, phasing, safety, and access
- Determines work priorities and coordinates work activities within the design area and/or with others outside of the office; apportions work among employees according to abilities or specialized training
- Works in conjunction with Project Manager and Project Engineers to ensure a smooth flow of communication, timely submittal process, and organized document control process
- Review subcontracts to ensure scope alignment with contract documents and project goals
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, architects, designers, subcontractors, and all other project stakeholders to ensure productive collaboration
- Estimates manpower and materials needed for specific jobs
- Leads inspection and commission of day-to-day construction work to enforce conformity to specifications and quality control in-line with industry standard and company reputation
- Trains employees on the job with the goal of developing them into the next level of construction professional
- Work in collaboration with Project Manager to ensure project is delivered on schedule and budget.

Required Skills and Experience
- 5 years commercial/multi-family construction experience
- Minimum OSHA 10 Certification
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications for building
- General computer, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Field construction experience, especially framing and finish work
- Knowledge of all phases of building construction, including work commonly done by the various building trades
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems
- Knowledge of building materials, tools, and machines
- Basic working knowledge of applicable building codes
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualification
- Proficiency in Procore
- OSHA 30
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis for an 8 hour day
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., including overhead
- Ability to perform physical and repetitive motions
- Requires vision and hearing capabilities
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday. Fairbank Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
- The range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
- 7 Paid Holidays per Year (plus Veteran’s Day if you are a military veteran)
- PTO 2 weeks of paid time off per year for sick, vacation and personal time, up to 4 weeks with years of service
