School District Position Description
SCHOOL CUSTODIAN
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week. 260 days per year.
3:00pm - 11:00pm during school year
7:00am – 3:30pm during summer and Christmas breaks
SUMMARY:
Perform all activities that are custodial in nature and deemed appropriate by the Custodial Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep buildings neat and clean at all times
- Clean and maintain all assigned workspaces and equipment
- Clean classrooms
- Shampoo rugs
- Clean floors
- Remove trash
- Wash windows
- Clean restrooms
- Floor maintenance (stripping and waxing of tiled floors)
- Understand and follow safety procedures as provided by the District
Other duties may be required or assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to establish trusted relationships with all levels of the organization, including maintaining confidentiality of student/corporation information. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Drivers License may be required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach about the head and reach forward. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move cleaning supplies and equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is continuously required to meet deadlines with time constraints, interact with the public and other staff.
