JOB OVERVIEW
The Area Operations Supervisor oversees the daily operations of cleaning and day porter teams across assigned areas. This role ensures that all facilities, including high-traffic and high-visibility areas, restrooms, offices, lobbies, and exterior spaces, are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation. The supervisor also monitors team performance, coordinates schedules, and supports special assignments as requested by management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, train, and coach Cleaners and Day Porters across multiple areas.
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback to ensure high-quality cleaning standards.
- Schedule staff to ensure coverage for day and night operations and high-traffic areas.
- Assign and prioritize daily cleaning tasks, touch-ups, and special projects.
- Conduct regular team meetings and communicate company policies and procedures.
Operations & Facility Oversight
- Inspect all areas under supervision, including offices, restrooms, lobbies, elevators, hallways, plazas, sidewalks, and exterior spaces.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Verify that trash and recycling removal, restroom stocking, and touch-up cleaning are completed accurately and timely.
- Address and document maintenance issues, safety hazards, and any facility damage.
- Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
Quality Control & Reporting
- Conduct routine inspections and spot-checks to ensure cleaning standards are met.
- Report operational issues, incidents, and maintenance needs to management.
- Track inventory of cleaning materials and submit requests for supplies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of team schedules, completed tasks, and training documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required; further education in facilities management or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience supervising cleaning, janitorial, or day porter teams.
- Proven experience in facilities management or operations supervision preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, equipment, and safety protocols.
