POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Facilities Manager, constructs, installs, modifies and repairs all manner of temporary and installed electrical services and circuits. Trouble shoots electrical failures. Coordinates activities with other trade shops, building maintenance personnel and subcontractors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Constructs, installs and modifies electrical services and circuits in accordance with prepared specifications, verbal instructions, sketches, and directions in accordance with the national and local electrical codes.
- Calculates ampacity, performs load and phase balance calculations, determines wire and conduit size for installation or upgrade.
- Troubleshoots failures in electrical systems, complex control systems and assesses repair or replacement requirements, making recommendations to supervisor for in-house accomplishment, outside contractor, or other trade shop work order.
- Cuts, fits and installs conduit for new equipment or circuits.
- Repairs a variety of electrical appliances such as dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, washers & dryers, drills, and fans or replaces as needed.
- Provides hands on technical and professional guidance to building maintenance workers possessing the aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Communicates with manufacturers technical and engineering personnel to ascertain proper operating conditions or sequences.
- Coordinates essential functions of new construction and electrical repairs with other trade personnel such as HVAC techs, building maintenance workers, plumbers, carpenters and others.
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical services, switch gears, branch and sub panels, uninterruptible power systems and control stations and repairs, replaces or adjusts to insure the system or components are operating properly.
- Maintains records of service modifications for incorporation into district blueprints.
- Utilizes district automated system for input of work order data and compliance or completion tracking.
- Operates hand and power tools as needed in the performance of duties.
- Keeps supervisor apprised of work order or job status.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of all electric codes, methods, standard and accepted industry practices and other related safety regulations, such as OSHA.
- Knowledge of all types of electrical equipment and their operation.
- Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, schematics and blueprints.
- Ability to be trained and to use related district or proprietary software for recording electrical data.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situation.
- Ability to handle emergencies, confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and the public.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 years experience in the maintenance and operation of electrical systems.
- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
