The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology to lead, evaluate, and optimize our IT department operations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can assess our current team capabilities, implement efficient processes, and build the IT infrastructure needed to support our continued growth. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, experience managing both internal teams and external vendors, and the ability to bring structure and modernization to an established IT environment.
This position reports to senior leadership to align IT operations with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Evaluate current IT team members' skills, responsibilities, and effectiveness to identify gaps and optimization opportunities
- Build, mentor, and develop the IT team, making recommendations for additional resources or restructuring as needed
- Work effectively with long-tenured employees while introducing modern best practices
- Foster collaboration between internal staff and external consultants
Process & Project Management
- Review and optimize current project management systems (ServiceDesk and Asana) to streamline workflows
- Implement structured IT processes and ensure consistent project delivery
- Coordinate with various departments to understand and prioritize technology needs
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure external consultants deliver quality, sustainable solutions
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Establish comprehensive documentation standards and processes for all IT systems and procedures
- Direct the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, ensuring knowledge transfer and reducing single points of failure
- Build runbooks and standard operating procedures that enable any team member to handle routine tasks
- Create and maintain an IT knowledge base accessible to the entire department
Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations including help desk, network administration, and system maintenance
- Evaluate current infrastructure setup and make recommendations for improvements that support team-wide maintenance capabilities
- Manage cybersecurity initiatives and ensure proper implementation of security measures
- Ensure IT systems are reliable, well-documented, and maintainable by multiple team members
Strategic Planning
- Develop practical IT strategies that align with business goals and operations
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
- Plan for future technology needs while maintaining current system stability
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in management role
- Proven track record of successfully managing IT teams and improving department operations
- Strong project management experience with demonstrable success in delivering IT initiatives
- Experience managing vendor relationships and holding external consultants accountable
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and network administration
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and implementation
- Excellent documentation and process development skills
- Experience working in manufacturing or similar industries preferred
- Ability to evaluate team performance and make strategic staffing recommendations
- Strong communication skills with ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience with ServiceDesk, Asana, or similar project management tools
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes
- Familiarity with legacy system modernization (experience with Caché/Ensemble, PICK is a plus but not required)
- Experience building IT departments and processes in established companies
- ITIL, PMP, or similar certifications

Important Note
This is a full-time, on-site position at our Elmsford, NY headquarters. Remote work is not available for this role. Candidates must be able to commute daily to our Elmsford location.
