Application Engineer

Fabri
Framingham, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 1/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/5/2026
Fabri is seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to join our team and serve as the technical interface between our customers and our digital manufacturing platform. In this role, you will own the journey of customer parts from file intake through production, ensuring that requirements are clearly captured, manufacturability issues are addressed, and feedback flows back into our software and process development.

The Company

We are an early-stage investment casting startup building a fully integrated digital foundry. Our mission is to deliver precision metal castings with unparalleled speed and cost-effectiveness. By leveraging our exclusive high-throughput additive manufacturing process and AI-driven design software, we can deliver castings in days, saving our customers critical time and money. We are well capitalized and backed by top-tier investors and major customers, with significant funding raised in the past year. We’ve shipped our first customer parts and have generated significant commercial excitement in both the aerospace and industrial sectors.

Fabri is located in Boston Metrowest. During this startup phase and for the foreseeable future, all employees will be on-site and closely involved with building and operating the end-to-end process.

Fabri is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We foster an environment where safety and commitment to quality are central in everything we do.

The Role

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for translating customer intent into manufacturable reality. You will work directly with customers to understand part requirements, prepare and validate design files, and guide parts through Fabri’s production pipeline.

Reporting to the CTO, you will interface daily with software engineers, process development, manufacturing, and metrology teams to ensure parts meet functional, dimensional, and quality requirements. This role is critical in closing the loop between customer needs, manufacturing outcomes, and continuous improvement of Fabri’s workflows and software tools.

You will also help explore new customer use cases by developing demo parts, reference builds, and example programs that showcase Fabri’s capabilities and inform product direction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers during part intake, design review, and production.
  • Review customer CAD files and drawings, identify manufacturability issues, and propose design or process modifications as needed.
  • Prepare customer files for production, including geometry cleanup, defeaturing, orientation, supports, and documentation of requirements.
  • Gather and document all relevant part specifications, including tolerances, material requirements, surface finish, and inspection criteria.
  • Coordinate with production and scheduling teams to release parts into manufacturing workflows.
  • Interface with metrology and quality teams to define inspection plans and ensure required data is collected and reported.
  • Review inspection and scan results in collaboration with metrology engineers to verify conformance to customer specifications.
  • Communicate results, issues, and recommendations back to customers clearly and professionally.
  • Identify and investigate high-value customer use cases and translate them into demo parts, reference workflows, and example programs that illustrate Fabri’s capabilities.
  • Work closely with software and process engineering teams to identify recurring issues and improve automated workflows, tools, and design rules.
  • Use and help improve Fabri’s internal software tools for file intake, workflow tracking, inspection reporting, and customer communication, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and traceability.

Qualifications

Even if you don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply for this role. We value curiosity, problem-solving skills, and strong fundamentals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in manufacturing, applications engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Experience working with CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on part geometry and tolerances.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers.
  • Ability to collaborate across software, process, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documenting requirements, specifications, and manufacturing outcomes.

Fabri does not provide visa sponsorship for this position. To comply with ITAR regulations, candidates for this role must be US nationals (i.e., US citizens or lawful permanent residents) to be considered.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with investment casting, additive manufacturing, or related processes.
  • Familiarity with metrology techniques such as 3D scanning.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Interest in improving and scaling technical workflows through software and automation

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to play a central role in delivering parts to customers at a cutting-edge digital foundry.
  • Direct impact on customer satisfaction, product quality, and internal process improvement.
  • Collaborative, hands-on work environment with close interaction across engineering and manufacturing.
  • Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and strong growth opportunities.
