Job Overview
Join the production team at Faber Burner Company as our Shop & Facility Maintenance Mechanic. This is a dynamic, multi-faceted role designed for a skilled mechanical professional. Your primary responsibility is the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our own manufacturing shop equipment and machinery. Along with keeping our production machinery running, you will oversee facility and building maintenance to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained physical plant.
Additionally, you will serve as a vital utility support player—using your mechanical skills to assist our production teams in assembling Faber’s world-class industrial burner and fuel-firing systems as needed when production demands spike.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Focus: Shop Machinery Maintenance & Repair
- Equipment Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures on shop fabrication machinery (e.g., Water-jet, Plasma table, metal-cutting band saws, welding machines, etc.).
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute scheduled PM programs for all shop & facility equipment and systems.
- Material Handling Support: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on shop support machinery, including forklifts, telehandler, hand trucks, etc.
Primary Focus: Building & Facility Maintenance
- Facility Systems: Monitor, service, and maintain critical utility equipment such as industrial air compressors, shop filtration, and exhaust systems.
- Building Repairs: Perform general facility maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, commercial lighting, electrical fixture troubleshooting, door/window repairs, and minor structural fixes.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all machinery guards, emergency stops, safety signage, and building emergency systems (like exit lighting and fire extinguishers) are fully operational and compliant with OSHA standards.
Secondary Focus: Production Assembly Support (As Needed)
- Burner & System Assembly: Step in to assist assembly teams with the physical construction of Faber’s industrial burner systems.
- Piping & Component Fitting: Assist in assembling piping trains, valves, and manifold systems according to engineering drawings and schematics.
- Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts, telehandler and overhead crane.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Facilities Technician, Millwright, or Equipment Repair Technician in a manufacturing, heavy industrial, or commercial shop environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems (gears, belts, bearings).
- Solid understanding of electrical troubleshooting (including facility three-phase power and control panels).
- Familiarity with facility systems (plumbing, commercial electrical, building structures, and compressed air systems).
- Ability to read equipment schematics, building blueprints, and technical assembly manuals.
- Welding & Fabrication: Skilled in basic welding (MIG/Stick) and metal fabrication to repair shop machinery, building fixtures, or assist in burner assembly.
- Flexibility & Teamwork: A strong "team-first" attitude with the willingness to seamlessly transition from fixing shop machinery and building facilities to helping assemble finished products as business needs dictate.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders to service overhead systems/roofs, and work comfortably in a dynamic industrial environment.
Other Requirements
- Skilled in using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection.
- Familiarity with basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in machining tasks.
- Certification or experience with forklift operation and crane handling is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high safety standards.
- Able to work 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Excellent teamwork skills with a focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
