Summary: The primary responsibility of the Full-Time Maintenance Specialist is to support the preventative
maintenance and repair operations at the Clinton County Correctional Facility and its surrounding grounds. This
role involves performing a variety of tasks related to HVAC systems, boilers, sprinkler systems, generators,
kitchen equipment, doors, locks, and plumbing.
Schedule and On-Call-Requirement: Normal schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday,
unless otherwise deemed necessary to meet the needs of a 24/7 operation. This position will require on call
responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as
exclusive or all-inclusive. Completes basic maintenance duties (work orders) throughout the facility and grounds as assigned by
the Maintenance Supervisor. Understand the maintenance operations structure, work flow, guidelines, policies and procedures. Apprises administrative staff of any notable incidents immediately. The ability to perform and have a basic working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting,
flooring, fencing, lawn care, snow removal, basic repairs of appliances, etc. Participates in preventative maintenance and monitoring of the operation of heating and air conditioning
(HVAC) units, checking filters, adjusting floor heating, trouble-shooting problems, cleaning evaporators
and condenser cells, changing belts and filters, installing and repairing water pumps, lubricating
bearings and monitoring the operation of roof top units (RTU’s). Performs grounds maintenance functions such as trimming lawns and shrubs, raking, blowing leaves,
shoveling snow, spreading salt, patching holes in asphalt, repairing sidewalks and curbs, and related
ground tasks. Participates in electrical repairs to the facility. Includes testing circuits to locate problems, replacing
switches, outlets, and ballasts, repairing and replacing motors and pumps, installing and repairing
exhaust fans, relays, pressure switches, pneumatic/electric devices and related tasks. Performs repairs to specialized mechanical equipment such as security systems, includes installing and
maintaining electronic and manual locking systems and electronic security and video surveillance
systems. Performs plumbing repairs, such as repairing leaks, unplugging drains, installing fixtures, such as toilets
and sinks. Performs lock repairs (at the direction of the facility locksmith). Assist with deliveries, i.e., commissary, kitchen, office supplies, etc.

Participates in office remodeling projects which may include design and installation of specialized
equipment, counter tops, cabinets, etc. Assists staff to ensure compliance for inspections, i.e., sprinkler system, fire alarm system, SDS, lock,
kitchen, etc. Plans labor and material needs for designated maintenance and repair projects. Ensure proper supervision of detainee labor assigned to maintenance. Escorts outside contractors and service personnel. Operates various tools/equipment in performance of duties, such as hammers, screw drivers, wrenches,
drills, air nozzle, air compressor, power saws, driver, ratchets, gauges, drill press, fork lift, electronic
testing equipment, pressure washer, mowers. Adhere to facility policy and procedure regarding key and tool control. Adhere to all Security based policy and procedures of the facility. Inspect all facility tools and equipment daily. Ability to operate a forklift. Will be certified in the use of.
