SUMMARY: 
Supports daily operations of the Quality Department by performing Quality Control inspection activities as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities are described below.  Other duties may be assigned.
 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
•    Perform all work in accordance with established procedures.
•    Confer with Quality Manager and Supervisor regarding quality or procedural concerns.
•    Perform structural steel welding inspection in accordance with AWS standards.
•    Perform Visual inspections of non-destructive testing performed by others.
•    Maintain records required by Fabcorp QMS and Welding program.
•    Review the performance of inspections completed by subconsultants or others when needed.
•    Interpret drawings and specifications. Communicate with clients, contractors, supervisors and other inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results.
•    Prepare daily reports including description of contractor work activities.
•    Gather data and measurements to be used in the completion of checklists and quality assurance of welding activities.
•    Oversee welder and weld process documentation including but not limited to WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, welder proficiency and continuity.
•    Support customer required 3rd party/customer Notice of Inspection site work.
•    Keep detailed records of all inspections and findings utilizing proper forms and provide feedback.
•    Recommend approval of the work inspected incompliance with codes, drawing specifications and requirements.
•    Process monitoring oversees welding procedures before during and after completion for code adherence.
•    Coach welders on technique and ensure proper materials are used throughout the process.
•    Follow company safety & security guidelines.
•    Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
•    Other duties as needed.
 

REQUIRED SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    This is not a supervisor position.
•    Reports directly to Quality Manger.
 

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  


REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•    Demonstrates experience performing visual inspection and code knowledge.
•    Ability to review and interpret structural steel plans, working drawings and technical specifications.
•    Proficiency in use of weld inspection tools including weld gauges, NDT equipment and micrometers.
•    Ability to read plans and specifications, complete daily reports and record maintenance.
•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


REQUIRED TRAINING or to be provided
•    American Welding Society (AWS) Certified welding inspector.
•    General computer skills (Word/Excel).
•    Global Shop training.
•    DISCUS inspection software.
•    GD&T training.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting up to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.  The employee is frequently required to sit while performing the duties of this job (approx. 80%) walk (20%). The employee is expected to lift or move materials (5% of workday). 

MENTAL DEMANDS
Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; reading and interpreting information; judging distances and accurately; following oral and/or written directions; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
