Position Overview
American Pipe & Vessel (APV) is seeking a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to perform inspections of welded, lined, and coated assemblies to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and welding procedures. This position requires technical accuracy, strong documentation skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections on welded assemblies to ensure compliance.
- Confirm appropriate welding procedures and equipment usage.
- Witness and oversee performance tests conducted by outside agencies.
- Verify and record procedure qualification test results.
- Maintain requalification requirements and prepare inspection documentation.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, job documents, and contract requirements.
- Inspect and test welded joints, linings, and coatings during production and upon completion.
- Perform inspections and testing of production weld samples.
- Uphold safety standards and maintain dependable attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
- ASNT-TC-1A Level II certification in MT, PT, and UT NDE.
- Valid AWS QC1 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong report-writing and communication skills.
- Proficient in math (fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, graphs).
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Ability to operate computer-controlled hydrostatic test stands.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work at heights using a harness.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Regular standing, walking, hand usage, and communication.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Occasional sitting and overhead reaching.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Must maintain adequate close, distance, and color vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
Salary : $30 - $46
