Manufacturing Engineer and Estimator
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer and Estimator to join our innovative manufacturing team. This role combines technical expertise with strategic project estimation, driving efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across our manufacturing processes. As a key contributor, you will oversee process development, optimize production workflows, and prepare accurate cost estimates for manufacturing projects. Your energetic approach will help propel our facility toward continuous improvement and operational excellence, ensuring we meet customer demands with precision and agility.
Duties
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings, ensuring they are manufacturable and accurate to customer drawings and requirements.
- Process customer-supplied STEP files into production-ready sheet metal models in Solidworks.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of material (BOMs). Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Analyze existing products to identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance improvement, and manufacturability enhancement. Implement design changes as needed.
- Provide technical support to the production team, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Address design-related issues that arise during the manufacturing process, making necessary modifications to improve product quality and reduce production costs.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback on design concepts, and provide technical support during the production process.
- Support all members of Fab-Metal whenever possible.
Qualifications/Skills
- Strong proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, and other design tools for creating detailed sheet metal designs, drawings and models.
- 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication.
- High level of attention to detail, particularly in ensuring that designs are accurate, functional, and manufacturable.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability in root cause analysis techniques to identify issues swiftly and implement lasting solutions within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at reducing waste while increasing productivity across assembly lines or fabrication areas.
- Experience working within a manufacturing facility environment that emphasizes continuous improvement standards like ISO 9001 certification.
- Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings (GD&T), process diagrams, and industrial equipment manuals accurately. Join us in shaping the future of manufacturing through innovation!
