Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate group therapy sessions tailored to diverse client needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, PTSD, grief, addiction issues, and behavioral challenges
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and intake evaluations to determine appropriate treatment plans
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA)
- Maintain detailed medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on case management, crisis intervention, and behavior management strategies
- Support patients through crisis management and de-escalation techniques during emergency situations
- Collect data for clinical research projects and ensure accurate ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for diagnoses and billing purposes
Skills
- Proven experience in clinical counseling, group therapy, and behavioral health interventions
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic approaches including psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care
- Expertise in working with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with disabilities or special needs such as autism or developmental delays
- Familiarity with medical records management, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical documentation standards
- Excellent crisis intervention skills with the ability to manage challenging behaviors effectively
- Experience in telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Knowledge of social work principles, patient assessment techniques, and mental health legislation including HIPAA compliance
