Position Overview
Oversee and work to improve the daily tasks of the production team according to established process and performance metrics. Supervises and provides leadership to subordinates in accordance with the organization's policies and guidelines. Responsible for the safety and productivity of the shift of hourly team members. Responsibilities include but are not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work, measuring against KPI's; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise team in day to day tasks including trimming, flame-treating, labeling, packing, processing paperwork, and effective line changes to ensure quality, packing, and processing goals are met for the Client and F&M
- Develop, measure and visibly manage multiple KPI's to ensure quality and efficiency objectives are being met.
- Ensure the overall safety, quality and productivity goals are met.
- Manage multiple priorities across tight timelines by maneuvering the workforce to meet demands
- Communicate in a specific and frequent manner so all parties are aligned at all times with regards to supply, personnel, quality, safety, demand, and capacity
- Supervise safety programs that include meetings, trainings and partner with HR to document employee trainings
- Implement continuous improvements to bring about cost reductions; quality and productivity improvements using lean principles and six sigma tools
- Encourage open communication with staff and drive Operational excellence improvements while maintaining a positive, results oriented work environment
- Must be self-directed, have strong attention to detail, great communication skills and possess the capability to analyze information to improve processes and business outcomes.
- Team building - this includes training and coaching team members along with driving camaraderie within the workplace
- Resolve staffing issues related to performance, absence coverage, and/or safety
- Learn, implement and sustain Operational Excellent such as 5S
- Assist with the implementation and abide by all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Accident reporting, Forklift safety and Housekeeping
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Manufacturing related field or equivalent number of years of experience required
- Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing experience preferably in injection molding
- Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role
- Must be self-directed, have strong attention to detail, great communication skills and possess the capability to analyze information to improve processes and business outcomes.
- Proven experience supervising, developing, training, counseling and motivating employees within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions, problem solve, prioritize assignments and direct the workforce in an ever changing environment
- Must have strong communication skills and high attention to detail
- Previous experience with labor planning
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
- Certified Fork-truck and Clamper driver
