Summary of Position
The Stucco, EIFS, and Plaster Installer is responsible for the installation, repair, and finishing of exterior and interior wall systems, including traditional stucco, Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), and plaster. This position requires skilled workmanship to ensure surfaces are structurally sound, weather-resistant, and aesthetically finished according to project specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Cover surfaces such as windows, doors, or sidewalks to protect from splashing.
- Protect structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage. Clean job sites.
- Mix substances or compounds needed for work activities.
- Apply coats of plaster or stucco to walls, ceilings, or partitions of buildings, using trowels, brushes, or spray guns.
- Apply decorative or textured finishes or coverings.
- Assemble temporary equipment or structures.
- Cure freshly plastered surfaces.
- Install guide wires on exterior surfaces of buildings to indicate thickness of plaster or stucco and nail wire mesh, lath, or similar materials to the outside surface to hold stucco in place.
- Mark reference points on construction materials.
- Apply weatherproof, decorative coverings to exterior surfaces of buildings, such as by troweling or spraying on coats of stucco.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for applications of plaster, cement, stucco, or similar materials.
- Prepare surfaces for finishing.
- Create decorative textures in finish coat, using brushes or trowels, sand, pebbles, or stones.
- Apply insulation to building exteriors by installing prefabricated insulation systems over existing walls or by covering the outer wall with insulation board, reinforcing mesh, and a base coat.
- Rough the undercoat surface with a scratcher so the finish coat will adhere.
- Mold or install ornamental plaster pieces, panels, or trim. Install trim or paneling.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred)
- Experience in the construction industry (preferred)
