Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Residential Construction Estimator to join a respected custom home builder in Fort Mitchell, KY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating custom residential construction projects, preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, and collaborating with project teams to ensure profitable and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom residential construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate project estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze project scope.
• Identify discrepancies, omissions, and potential cost risks before project execution.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, architects, and trade partners during preconstruction.
• Develop and maintain budgets throughout the estimating process.
• Track estimated versus actual project costs to improve future estimating accuracy.
• Recommend value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
• Maintain current pricing databases and historical cost information.
• Prepare competitive bids and proposals while ensuring company profitability.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years of estimating experience in residential construction.
• Experience estimating custom homes or single-family residential projects.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and cost estimating.
• Strong understanding of subcontractor scopes and pricing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
