Heavy Civil Construction Estimator

The Heavy Civil Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Westhampton, NY. This position is responsible for preparing detailed estimates for heavy civil projects by reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, and developing accurate cost projections. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing subcontractor and supplier proposals, coordinating with project managers and engineers, and updating budgets as designs and site conditions evolve. The estimator also participates in bid preparation, supports negotiation of contracts, and maintains organized documentation to ensure pricing is consistent and competitive. The role requires close collaboration with field and office teams to align estimates with project execution plans and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Construction Estimating skills and familiarity with heavy civil materials, methods, and industry standards.
• Candidates should possess Quantity Take-offs and measurement skills, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and survey data.
• Candidates should possess Cost Management and Budgeting skills, including developing cost breakdowns, tracking variances, and supporting value engineering.
• Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
• Relevant qualifications include proficiency in estimating software and Excel, knowledge of local codes and regulations, and experience with DOT or municipal projects.
• Beneficial qualifications include a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and several years of heavy civil estimating experience.
