Role Description
- This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role based in Red Bank, NJ.
- The Legal Assistant will support attorneys with daily case management, including organizing files, maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments, and tracking deadlines.
- Responsibilities include preparing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents; filing documents with courts or relevant agencies; and managing correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
- The role involves answering phones, greeting visitors, handling mail, and performing general administrative tasks to keep the office running smoothly.
- The Legal Assistant will also assist with client intake, gathering and organizing case-related information, and updating case management systems and databases as needed.
Qualifications
- Foundational understanding of law and legal procedures, with prior experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and organizing legal pleadings, letters, and forms.
- Strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with clients, attorneys, courts, and external partners.
- Administrative assistance skills, including calendar management, file organization (digital and physical), data entry, and office coordination.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information responsibly, and exercise sound judgment.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort using office software and legal practice tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management or case management systems).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or paralegal/legal assistant certificate is preferred.
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal environment in New Jersey is a plus, especially familiarity with local court rules and filing procedures.
