The Quality Inspector is a hands-on, detail-oriented, and highly motivated professional responsible for upholding the company’s quality standards throughout all phases of production, assembly, and post-service evaluation. This role requires continuous movement across the facility to perform in-process inspections, verify dimensional accuracy, and assess the quality of welds. The inspector will also be responsible for evaluating used equipment returned from job sites and customers to determine repairability and identify potential issues for process improvement.
Responsibilities and Duties
In-Process Inspection: Continuously monitor and inspect parts and assemblies as they are being built to ensure they meet engineering and quality specifications.
Dimensional Verification: Use precision measurement tools, including tape measures, calipers, and micrometers, to verify that parts and assemblies conform to the dimensions and tolerances specified in blueprints and technical drawings.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret complex prints, blueprints, and work instructions to understand product specifications and ensure all work adheres to design requirements.
Weld Quality Assurance: Check welds for appearance, integrity, and quality, ensuring they meet established company standards and industry codes.
Returned Equipment Evaluation: Inspect equipment coming back from jobsites and customers to assess damage, wear and tear, and overall repairability. Document findings to inform the repair process and contribute to long-term quality improvement efforts.
Non-Conformance Reporting: Identify and report any defects, non-conforming materials, or workmanship issues to production supervisors and management. Participate in documenting corrective actions.
Maintain Inspection Equipment: Keep all measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers and micrometers, in proper working order and ensure they are regularly calibrated.
Quality Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspection findings, tests, and repairs for quality control logs and reports.
Contribute to Improvements: Assist in identifying trends in defects and work with production teams to recommend adjustments to prevent future quality issues.
Safety Adherence: Follow all company safety standards and procedures at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience: Proven experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment, with a strong background in dimensional inspection.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Expertise in using precision measuring instruments, including tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
Strong knowledge of welding processes and the ability to visually inspect welds for quality and appearance.
Personal Attributes:
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, non-stop production environment. Effective communication skills for documenting issues and collaborating with other team members. Physically able to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout the shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical training is a plus). Experience with different manufacturing standards and quality management systems
