As our Front Desk Receptionist, you are the director of first impressions! You will manage the daily flow of patients, handle scheduling, coordinate vision and medical insurance verifications, and ensure the front office runs smoothly. The ideal candidate has a passion for customer service, great attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Check-In/Out: Warmly greet patients upon arrival, manage intake paperwork, and ensure a seamless, upscale check-out experience.
- Scheduling & Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage the appointment book to maximize clinic efficiency.
- Insurance Verification: Pull and verify vision plans (e.g., VSP, EyeMed) and medical insurance benefits prior to patient appointments.
- Financial Duties: Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; accurately document payments in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Office Organization: Maintain a clean, inviting, and organized waiting room and exam room.
- Administrative Support: Assist the optometrist and clinical staff with administrative tasks, scanning documents, and managing patient recalls.
- Preliminary Exam Testing: Assist with preliminary testing accurately.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1 years of medical or optometry front desk experience is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right person with a stellar customer service background.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with computers and electronic health records (EHR) software. Experience with optometric scheduling software is a major plus.
- Insurance Knowledge: Basic understanding of vision care plans and major medical insurance tracking.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- A warm, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to stay calm and organized during peak hours.
