Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Receptionist for our busy optometry office. This role is vital in providing excellent patient service, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong clerical skills, familiarity with medical office systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Bilingual abilities and prior clinic experience are highly valued to enhance communication with diverse patient populations.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations with professionalism and courtesy
- Schedule appointments using our EMR system-Officemate
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection procedures
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently
- Handle multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries, and provide excellent customer service
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with data entry, typing, and maintaining electronic health records (EHR)
- Process intake forms, update patient information, and ensure proper documentation of care plans
- Support office management tasks including filing, faxing, and managing office supplies
- Ensure a clean and organized front desk environment to promote a welcoming atmosphere
Experience
- Prior experience in a Optometry office is preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems s
- Knowledge of medical terminology, Optical terms and procedures is necessary
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Experience with medical administrative support functions such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and documentation review
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times
