Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable Optician Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations within our optical practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional optical knowledge, comprehensive understanding of optometry and medical records, and experience in retail management. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance and delivering exceptional patient care. The Optician Assistant Manager will play a vital role in maintaining efficient clinic workflows, managing optical sales, and supporting clinical functions to provide outstanding service to our diverse patient population, including pediatrics and senior care.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily clinic operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality patient service
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to optical products, prescriptions, and clinic services
- Luxury Optical Sales
- Assuring the optical department meets company standards of cleanliness, professionalism and design
- Inventory oversight, meeting with sales representatives and merchandising the optical
- Oversee staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to foster a productive team environment
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of medical records and billing information
- Overseeing employee performance
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems including Officemate and other platforms for accurate documentation of patient data
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers
Experience
- Prior experience in ophthalmology or optometry is required (2 year minimum)
- Proven background in retail sales with strong skills in retail management and retail math
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Officemate or similar platforms
- Knowledge of medical, optical and lens terminology required
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining compliance within a healthcare setting
- Experience working with pediatric patients and senior care populations is advantageous
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a healthcare or retail environment is desirable
