JOB SUMMARY:
As an Accounting Supervisor your role is pivotal in overseeing and managing accounting operations for all the segments. You will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records and transactions. Your responsibilities include verification and maintenance of records, with a focus on daily transactions. Additionally, you will take the lead in monthly closing processes, demonstrating a keen attention to detail. Staying on top of changing accounting standards is essential, contributing not only to compliance efforts but also to the overall financial success of our company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including prepaid entries, agent balances, and various fee entries, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Supervise various weekly/monthly tasks including bank reconciliations, check runs and AP close
- Oversee Accounts Payable process
- Manage the completion of monthly closings for corporate accounts
- Execute strategic tasks, including GAAP checklist preparation, Cheatsheet tasks, and annual GAAP financial reporting
- Prepare the Monthly CFO Reports, Monthly Insurance Package, and Monthly PAC Analysis
- Prepare assigned audit work papers and related audit requests
- Assist with preparation of Supplementary Statutory Filings
- Assist with the preparation and filing of Form 10-K and 10-Q reports
- Review financial statements for variances and provide explanations
- Review and manage payroll-related items, wire/EFT items, intangible entries, and IC debt entries
- Provide guidance and support for the delivery of accounting support to management
- Ensure internal control compliance as mandated by Sarbanes-Oxley
- Special projects and other ad hoc duties as assigned (e.g., XBRL, SEC reporting)
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Detail and deadline oriented, committed to professionalism
- In-depth understanding of GAAP accounting
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Team oriented, proactive approach to all situations
- Proficient research and communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
EDUCATION /TRAINING:
- Bachelor of Arts/Science in Accounting required
- 4 years relevant work experience of which 2 years are at a senior accountant level
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Great Plains Dynamics/Management Reporter experience preferred
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables preferred
