Job Summary
The Safety Quality Supervisor provides direct day-to-day supervision of the Safety Department function and terminal-level audit quality, closing the department's near-term span-of-control gap ahead of a future departmental Manager role. This role is the first-line point of contact for Safety Coaches across all terminals and drives consistency in coaching completion, audit output, and driver discipline documentation
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise Safety & Compliance across all terminals, including daily workload management and coverage planning
- Oversee coaching completion timelines and SLA adherence.
- Review terminal-level Safety & Quality Audit and Equipment Audit output for consistency, completeness, and timeliness
- Coordinate escalation of audit findings — safety, maintenance, and compliance/documentation — per the Company’s escalation protocol.
- Support driver discipline case review, documentation consistency, and dispute intake under the Discipline Dispute Form process.
- Partner with the Compliance Specialist to convert claims and audit trends into targeted driver coaching and prevention initiatives.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching of direct reports; support hiring and onboarding for the Safety Coaching function
- Coordinate terminal coverage, including oversight of shuttle driver audit output feeding into the Safety Coaching function.
- Partner with the Sr. Safety and Compliance Manager on monthly executive reporting, KPI tracking, and CAPA follow-through
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Direct: 2-4 years in trucking safety, fleet operations, or driver coaching. Supervisory: none required to start.
- Transportation, trucking, or fleet safety experience
- Valid driver's license
