This critical role is responsible for the overall safety, physical condition, and smooth operation of the entire property, including all buildings, grounds, utilities, life safety systems, and resort-specific amenities (e.g., game room, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, heated pool, etc.).

This position requires a hands-on, proactive leader who will ensure all facilities are maintained to the highest standards of the Hilton and Canopy brands, optimizing guest comfort and minimizing downtime in a premier, four-season resort environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and manage a high-performing Engineering team, fostering a culture of safety, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
    • Develop, recommend, and manage the annual Engineering department budget, control utility consumption, and manage all repair and maintenance (R&M) expenses and capital expenditure (CapEx) projects.
    • Manage all outsourced maintenance contracts, bids, and relationships with third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers.
    • Work in daily close coordination with the Executive Housekeeper to schedule, execute, and track preventative maintenance (PM) in all guest rooms and ensure rapid response to maintenance issues identified during housekeeping rounds. Communicate effectively with all departments to prioritize and fulfill work orders.
  • Facilities and Maintenance Operations:
    • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive, year-round preventative maintenance program for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems, equipment, and building structures.
    • Maintain all public areas, food and beverage outlets (including the rooftop lounge, heated pool, sauna, jacuzzi), meeting spaces, and the building exterior (curb appeal) to immaculate standards.
    • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning), kitchen equipment, elevators, boilers, and utility systems.
    • Manage the operation and maintenance of the heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and game room.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Resort Specifics:
    • Ensure all hotel operations and physical facilities comply with local, state, and federal codes, including OSHA standards, fire safety regulations, and building codes.
    • Serve as the first responder and primary contact for all facility-related emergencies, implementing effective procedures for quick resolution.
    • Implement and manage specialized maintenance protocols required for a high-altitude, cold-weather resort, including snow removal planning, roof and gutter maintenance, underground parking maintenance, and effective heating/ventilation management during peak winter season.
    • Conduct regular, thorough building and equipment inspections to identify maintenance needs and manage the hotel's asset protection program.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Technical degree, trade certification (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing), or relevant military experience highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in facility management or engineering, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or Chief Engineer role within a hospitality environment. Experience in a resort or mountain destination setting is a strong plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
