Express Employment is hiring for a Payroll Specialist. This position is temp to hire.

This position is responsible for managing and processing employee compensation accurately and on time. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations while supporting a positive employee experience.

Pay: $21 - $23/Hour

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Job Description:

• Process weekly/biweekly payroll and verify employee work hours for all employees, including technicians, sales staff, and administrative personnel
• Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, deductions and benefits
• Handle inquiries, respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and benefits
• Maintain and update employee records electronically as well as hard copy employee files
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax withholdings and labor laws
• Prepare reports, generate payroll reports for management, and assist in audits as needed
• Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Coordinate with management to process onboarding documentation. benefit enrollment and processing new hire employees
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management
• Process terminations in compliance with State and Federal laws, including final paycheck calculations and benefits offboarding
• Coordinate with HR and accounting departments regarding employee data changes
• Manage payroll tax filings and ensure timely payment of payroll-related liabilities
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and confidentially

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Experience in payroll processing, automotive dealership experience preferred but not required
• Strong understanding of payroll systems and software
• Knowledge of applicable labor laws and payroll regulations
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred but not required
• 2-5 years of current payroll or accounting experience required
• Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to details
