Responsibilities
- Conduct initial, annual, complaint, special, and follow-up property inspections
- Identify and document housing quality deficiencies and required corrective actions
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Determine rent reasonableness and review utility allowances
- Communicate inspection findings with property owners, tenants, and program participants
- Monitor lead-based paint conditions and safety concerns
- Assist with compliance investigations and program-related documentation
- Provide excellent customer service while resolving housing and inspection issues
- Maintain knowledge of housing regulations, building codes, and inspection standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Additional college, vocational training, or related experience preferred
- Experience in housing inspections, property management, construction, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related fields
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field work
- Frequent travel to residential properties
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and occupied housing environments
- Ability to climb stairs, use ladders, walk uneven terrain, bend, kneel, and perform property inspections
