SAFETY COORDINATOR

Location: Rochester, MN - DIRECT HIRE

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Safety Coordinator to support and enhance our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs in a regulated pharmaceutical environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations while promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Safety Coordinators play a critical role in maintaining safe operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and minimizing workplace risks through training, audits, and program development. Professionals in pharmaceutical environments are especially focused on contamination control, cleanroom safety, and strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), which directly impact both employee safety and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs in alignment with OSHA, FDA, EPA, and GMP regulations

• Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance

• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions

• Coordinate and deliver employee safety training, including new hire orientation and ongoing compliance training

• Maintain accurate documentation of safety incidents, training records, and compliance reports

• Support cleanroom and pharmaceutical safety protocols, including contamination control and proper PPE usage

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement

• Assist in emergency preparedness planning and response initiatives

• Track and report safety metrics, KPIs, and regulatory compliance status

• Technical writing responsibilities, including the development of procedures and training materials designed to strengthen compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in safety, EHS, or a related role (pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing preferred)

• Working knowledge of OSHA standards, FDA regulations, and GMP environments

• Experience conducting audits, inspections, and safety training programs

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field

• Experience in pharmaceutical or cleanroom environments a plus

• Professional certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP, or ASP (preferred but not required)

Salary

$60,000 – $75,000 (based on experience)
