Key Responsibilities
- Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and write-offs into the practice management or EMR system.
- Reconcile daily deposits, EOBs/ERAs, and payment batches to ensure accuracy.
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies, underpayments, and overpayments.
- Identify and correctly apply denial codes and insurance remittances.
- Communicate with billing staff, insurance companies, and internal teams to clarify payment issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow all HIPAA and compliance guidelines.
- Assist with month-end reporting, payment audits, and balancing as needed.
- Ensure timely posting to avoid delays in accounts receivable and workflow.
- Previous experience in medical billing, payment posting, or revenue cycle operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of EOBs, ERAs, insurance reimbursement, and denial codes.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with medical billing software
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing guidelines
- Data entry accuracy and speed
- Analytical thinking to identify payment variances
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
