Audio Visual Technician

Audio/Visual Technician needed for an Installer in Buffalo, NY! Direct hire opportunity!

Pay: $70k-$90k/year

Hours: 1st shift / M-F

Summary:

The AV Technician handles site preparation, wiring, hardware installation, system programming, and troubleshooting for audio/visual installations. By ensuring safety, high installation standards, effective site leadership, and clear client communication, the AV Technician delivers top-quality AV solutions while maintaining efficient field operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Setup, Safety & Job Prep: Safely use hand tools, drills, saws, and other equipment for their intended uses.
• Set up a clean work area on job sites using tarps, tools, and ladders; stage required equipment at the start of the job and remain proactive to minimize trips to the truck.
• Review drawings, specs, and job scopes prior to arriving on-site; organize, cover, and secure materials at the end of each day or break down and remove them as required.
• Wiring, Installation & Hardware Assembly: ○ Pull A/V wiring through walls, attics, crawlspaces, basements, underground, and outdoor spaces; clearly label all wires installed and document/report details to the Project Manager.
• Wire and install TVs, speakers, and A/V equipment according to system design, function, and industry standards; verify proper termination with cable testers.
• Install and configure lighting and climate controllers, fully testing HVAC operation prior to leaving the job site.
• Programming, Systems Integration & Troubleshooting: ○ Program Wi-Fi networks, camera systems, Control4, Crestron Home, and emerging tech systems; collaborate with advanced programmers on Crestron Toolbox and IT network setup.
• Troubleshoot equipment and repair system issues, working alongside service teams to guide resolution efforts and deliver creative technical solutions.
• Project Communication, Site Leadership & Admin: ○ Manage, instruct, and guide installers on job sites; coordinate effectively with co-trades and project management.
• Maintain professional communication with clients and account managers regarding system updates, while respecting client privacy in home, business, and office environments.
• Sweep/vacuum debris, submit daily extra parts lists and time tracking logs, notify management of job delays, and follow administration procedures for payment collections.

Qualifications:

• Hand and Power tools; 2 years minimum experience
• Climb ladders over 20’ high
• Operate scissor and boom lifts
• Terminate category, speaker, xlr, 1⁄4” rs232 wire
• AV rack building experience
• Mount speakers, displays, projectors, access points, surveillance cameras and more
• Basic construction knowledge 2 years minimum
• Able to install low-voltage wires in attics, crawlspaces, outside and inside walls
• Experience configuring networks (VLAN, port forwarding, MAC reservations WIFI
• Experience with Crestron, Control4, QSC, Extron systems
• Experience installing audio and video systems (commercial and residential)
• Conference room experience (teams, zoom, BYOD) 2 years minimum
• Use Slack, Email, Text and Phone for communications.
• Work as an individual and with team
