Job Summary
The corporate office of Express Employment International is seeking a bold, strategic leader to serve as our Director of Resale Transition. This is a pivotal role overseeing the seamless handover of 50 franchise resale transactions each year, directly influencing over $30 million in annual gross margin. This isn’t just about managing deals, it’s about crafting success stories.
In this high-visibility position; you’ll conduct deep operational assessments, design customized transition plans, and guide both sellers and buyers toward long-term prosperity. You’ll be the connective tissue between Zone Sales leadership, Developers, and HQ teams, ensuring every transition preserves revenue, retains staff, and strengthens brand consistency across diverse markets.

This position sits within our Oklahoma City based corporate office, currently with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the Franchise Resale Lifecycle post-sale: Lead the end-to-end transition process for all franchise resales, ensuring successful ownership changes that protect and grow brand value.
- Conduct Deep-Dive Business Assessments: Analyze every aspect of a franchise business under resale consideration—including staff structure, revenue sources, system compliance, customer engagement, and financial performance—to identify risks, opportunities, and transition priorities.
- Strategic Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison to Zone Vice Presidents, Developers, and Express International Headquarters—translating complex business data into actionable transition strategies.
- Maximize Financial Continuity: Develop customized handover plans that safeguard gross margin contributions, reduce operational downtime, and accelerate new owner ramp-up.
- Design & Optimize Transition Frameworks: Create, implement, and continuously improve scalable tools, resources, and processes that drive excellence in franchise resale transitions across the system.
- Data Management & Reporting: Aggregate, analyze, and report on key resale metrics, timelines, and milestone achievement to ensure leadership visibility and accountability.
- Enhance System Engagement: Evaluate and reinforce franchisee adherence to internal systems and standards, including the application of Express proprietary tools, to ensure operational consistency post-sale.
- Confidentiality & Professionalism: Manage highly sensitive business and personal data with discretion, integrity, and a high level of trust.
- Project Leadership: Execute special projects that align with corporate initiatives and contribute to strategic objectives as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Zone Sales.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications in business, franchise management, or change leadership a plus
- 5 years of progressive leadership experience in franchise systems, business development, or operational transition preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES
- Proven experience in franchise operations, business assessment, or strategic transitions
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to build trust with both outgoing and incoming owners
- Exceptional written and verbal communication with executive-level presence
- Deep critical thinking and business acumen to identify root causes and deliver tailored solutions
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and data visualization tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AI CoPilot)
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with an ability to influence without authority
- Comfortable managing complex projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
