Role Description: The Mortgage Processor is a full-time, on-site role based in Troy, MI. This position is responsible for processing mortgage loan files from application through closing, ensuring all required documentation is collected, complete, and accurate. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing loan applications, verifying income, assets, and credit information, and ordering third-party services such as appraisals, title work, and verifications of employment. The Mortgage Processor will communicate frequently with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and closing agents to resolve conditions, clear outstanding items, and keep all parties updated on file status. The role also involves preparing files for underwriting review, monitoring loan pipelines, adhering to regulatory and company guidelines, and maintaining detailed records within the loan origination system.
Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as a Mortgage Processor or Underwriter
- Ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgage Lending practices, including familiarity with common loan products and documentation requirements.
- Experience supporting or working with Underwriting, including reviewing conditions and preparing complete, accurate files for credit decisions.
- Hands-on experience processing Loans, including document collection, data entry, verification, and pipeline management.
- Solid Communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and clearly with borrowers, colleagues, and third-party partners.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to manage multiple files in a deadline-driven environment.
- Comfort using loan origination systems and related mortgage software; proficiency in standard office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, email).
- Previous experience as a mortgage processor, loan officer assistant, or similar role in residential lending preferred.
- Familiarity with federal and state mortgage regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant certifications in finance, business, or real estate are beneficial.
