Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Site Manager to support projects across Virginia and the Mid‑Atlantic region. Although our client is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, this role is 100% travel and is fully field‑based, requiring regular presence at active solar project sites.
The Site Manager will be an integral part of the project management team, overseeing utility‑scale solar projects from permitting to closeout and turnover to the Operations & Maintenance team.
The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to specification, coordinating across internal teams, contractors, inspectors, consultants, and local authorities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Travel Requirement — Travel 100% of the time to active solar project sites across Virginia and the Mid‑Atlantic region.
- Project Coordination — Plan daily site activities, allocate tasks, and ensure subcontractors, suppliers, and crews work in sync to meet project milestones.
- Site Supervision — Monitor work progress, enforce quality standards, and resolve issues that could delay project completion.
- Health & Safety Management — Implement safety protocols, conduct toolbox talks, ensure OSHA compliance, and maintain a hazard‑free site.
- Resource Management — Oversee materials, equipment, and labor to prevent shortages and ensure operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Communication — Serve as the on‑site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and senior management.
- Documentation & Reporting — Maintain site logs, prepare progress reports, track change orders, and document incidents or delays.
- Quality Assurance — Verify work meets project specifications, building codes, and contractual requirements.
- Problem Resolution — Address unexpected issues such as weather delays, design conflicts, or supply disruptions.
- Prepare contractor agreements ensuring compliance with project specifications, budgets, and schedules.
- Manage project budgets, RFIs, change orders, and overall financial risk.
- Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and vendors for successful project execution.
- Support project closeout including commissioning, training, warranties, and O&M turnover.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- 4 years of construction management experience, preferably in utility‑scale solar or renewable energy projects on the East Coast; experience as a general contractor is considered.
- Strong knowledge of solar construction processes, including scheduling, estimating, and subcontractor management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar scheduling tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Skilled in contractor outreach, project estimation, RFIs, submittal reviews, and progress reporting.
- Excellent problem‑solving, stakeholder communication, and team leadership skills.
- Familiarity with local permitting, inspections, and compliance standards.
