Expanded Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Summer Camp Student Engagement Coaches to lead groups of students during our high-quality summer enrichment program for Elk Grove Unified School District students (TK-6th grade) across 4 sites. This is a seasonal, full-time classroom role requiring experience with elementary school children, excellent communication, and a passion for giving children incredible experiences. This is a hands on, exciting program. High Energy Individuals only!
Dates of Service: May 18, 2026 - July 31, 2026
Training Occurs between May 18 and June 5th. Camp starts June 8, 2026
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday (shifts between 7:00 am - 6:00 pm). Requires attendance at all school events, meetings, and trainings (up to 2 weekend days and 3 evenings for training).
Compensation: Starting at $21.00 an hour
In person, on campus. Sites to be determined.
Job Summary:
ELA's Student Engagement Coach plays a crucial role in supporting student engagement and providing enriching experiences for children in both structured school settings, after-school programs and during SUMMER Camp weeks on public school campuses. Our Coaches are responsible for for delivering ELA programs to TK- 8th grade students while building relationships, social/emotional skills and self- esteem. Consistency, reliability, professionalism, integrity and a BIG PERSONALITY are key personal competencies that are a MUST for this role. Summer camp is not for the faint of heart. We are looking for team mates that have 100% attendance and reliable transportation.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Inspire and serve as a role model for students at all times through a positive attitude and integrity driven behaviors
- Ability to teach leadership lessons and engage with students in all settings
- Basic knowledge in navigating the google excel, working knowledge of computer technology
- Plan and lead structured and unstructured activities during full day camps to promote student engagement and positive social interactions
- Implement of behavioral expectations and guidelines to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for students- strong classroom management
- Participate in activities aimed at fostering social-emotional skills, such as self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and communication
- Build positive relationships with students, contributing to a sense of belonging and connectedness within the school community
- Built positive and collaborative relationships with site admin and personnel to partner in program supports
- Assist in monitoring student behavior and providing support as needed to address conflicts and promote positive behavior
- Be consistent, reliable and professional
Minimum Requirements to fill the position:
- 48 college Units and/or 5 years working with children and youth
- Drug and alcohol free
- Three positive references from past employers
- Professional appearance , grooming and dress
- Must pass Livescan background check and TB test
- On time and consistent attendance
- Reliable transportation
- Strong character with leadership skills and integrity
- Ability to build strong connections with children and lead by example
- A positive, "can-do" attitude
- Availability during regular school hours (Monday - Friday)
- Basic knowledge of child development principles, behavior management techniques, and social-emotional learning strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to the needs of diverse student populations.
Additional preferred requirements:
- BA in Early Childhood, Child Development, Recreation or related field or...
- Two or more years working with Preschool through Elementary aged children in a group, licensed or private school setting
- Lesson planning experience
- Supervisor or coordinator experience

Details:
- Location: Elk Grove Elementary Schools (specifics of site given upon hire)
- Start date: Immediate Opening, throughout the 2025-2026 school year and beyond.
- Compensation Range: $21-$23 Per hour
- Schedule: Approximately 30-40 hours a week. Shifts between 7:00 am- 6:00 pm, Monday- Friday
- Training: Completion of training is required to be added to the staff schedule. Work hours will not be offered with out it.
